3Review: Wow, I really, really wanted to like this movie. I had mixed expectations come in. Otherwise, I was expecting a typical children Spielberg style against type monster movie, on the other hand, E ; g was disappointed with Abrams before Cloverfield.So, in the first three quarters of the film, I was really enjoying the ride. At least this time, Abrams was able to make characters that I could think of. I was able to suspend my disbelief and go along, despite the many problems of physics and continuity. As the story continued unexplained bits and pieces of the story began to wear thin.Basically, if you read the negative a reviews on here you will see the problem with this movie, complete rehash of so many cliches scattered Spielberg? Goofy continuity problems and poor plot exposition, and so on. I actually could have come out of it, so positive, if it were not for the extremely flat ending.The rest of the movie was large enough production values, character development and a great sense of old-time '50s monster movie that I really had fun there he got to the end. They simply could not pull out all the plot elements together satisfactorily. Worst still, scrap fell completely flat. Where was supposed to be some tension building with good climactic scene, it just kind of ended, plop it was very unsatisfying.I do not understand development ; filmmakers like Abrams, Shyamalan and others these days. There is a tendency to have characters with strong, but far-fetched storylines where the scenario statement is so small and choppy, it is difficult to really develop an emotional bond with them. Then, it is hard to tell where some of their motivation is. Finally, these characters act in ways that seem inappropriate in the circumstances. Anyway, I just tire with such a half-ass story. These guys need to watch some classic Hitchcock, lumens, etc. Rayner and get some tips on plot and character development.Bummer, it was so close to being a very good movie, if not great , it just needs better storytelling and dignified end.
